Setting up your cockpit
Boost your control and comfort

Getting your handlebar width and rise right has a bigger impact on your riding than you’d think. It affects your control, steering and balance. Is your handlebar right for you?

Over the past decade there’s been a shift from narrow, flat handlebars, to wider, slightly raised handlebars. The wider bar should improve your control, but everyone's arm length and flexibility differs. Trial and error is the only way to see what works for you. What you’re looking for is for your elbows to be bent and there should be an imaginary line up from your wrist, through your elbows to your shoulders to ensure proper control and of course, comfort.

To adjust your handlebar, you can loosen the bar roll screws and physically roll the bar away from you (forwards pushes your weight over the front wheel) or towards you (backwards puts your weight over the back wheel giving you more control). Remember to tighten your bolts properly when you’re finished adjusting them. Our experts can assist you.
