Decoding tyres
Calling all trail shredders

There’s no better way to get outside than a day on the trails. But to get the right grip, tread and even pressure, you need to have the right tyre for you. Do you know what you need?

Depending on your wheel size (26”, 27.5” or 29”) and riding style, you need to pick the right width tyre to maximize your grip, while keeping your rolling resistance down. Here’s a rough guide:

- XC/ marathon - 1.9? to 2.25? width

- Enduro / trail - 2.25? to 2.6? width

- Downhill / gravity  - 2.4? – 2.5? width

- Plus (2.8?-3.0? width) / fat tyres (3.7? to 5? width)

Once you’ve established your width, you’ll need to pick something with the right amount of tread. Tread is the knobblies that make up your “grip” on a tyre. The more tread you have, the grippier and more comfortable your ride, but it’ll decrease your rolling speed. Come have a look at our options in store to find the perfect fit.

Converting to tubeless, (if you haven’t already) is a great way to improve your riding experience. Here are the major benefits:

1. Increased comfort

2. Can run lower pressures

3. Less punctures due to sealant

4. Improves grip and traction

5. No more patch kits

The perfect tyre

With the right tyre set up, you’ll enjoy your riding more, be more comfortable, go faster and have less punctures. What are you waiting for?
