Eliminate the weakest link

There’s nothing worse than having a ride cut short due to a mechanical. Looking after your chain will help you avoid this, but what do you do out on the trails when you break your chain?

Here’s how you you can fix your chain:

1. Identify and locate the broken link

2. Use your chain tool to push out the pin on the damaged link

3. Separate and then remove the broken / damaged link

4.  Use your chain tool to insert your spare power link where the broken link was removed and reattach it.

5. Make sure the pin has been pushed through on the connecting link

6. Check your chain is running smoothly and adjust the tension if needed

If your chain has broken more than once, it might be time to replace it entirely. Remember, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If you’re not comfortable fixing your chain or if you’re feeling unsure, we’re here to help.
