It’s about to get bumpy

Whether in life or on your bike, it’s not always smooth riding. You’ve got to handle the bumpy phases too. The cobblestones in stage 5 of this year’s Tour de France put the riders to the ultimate test, but being prepared will get them (and you) across the line.

The right tyres and tyre pressure will help you cope with bumpy riding. The Tour de France riders opt for slightly wider tyres (28-30mm) with slightly lower pressures. This helps them increase the surface area and comfort without increasing rolling resistance. Making sure you have the right tyres and tyre pressure for the type of riding you’re doing makes a massive difference to your experience. We can help you establish your tyre pressure based on your weight, and then also advise you on the best type of tyre for you. You’ll be amazed at the difference this small change can make.

This year’s Tour includes a total of 11 bone-shaking cobblestone sections.

The white jersey is awarded to the best young rider to celebrate and recognise young talent. This jersey goes to the fastest rider in the overall standings who is under the age of 26 years. At 21-years-old, Quinn Simmons is the youngest rider in this year’s Tour, while the oldest rider is four-time Tour de France champion, Chris Froome who is 36.

Keep moving

It’s only going to get better. Regardless of your age or riding style, you can always benefit from a tyre assessment. We’ll help you find the right tyres and pressure for you.
