24 Days of Inspiration
It’s hammer time

24 days. 21 stages. Over 3,300km. No matter what kind of cycling you do, watching the riders take on the gruelling Tour de France is sure to get you excited and inspired. Follow our conversation during July to learn more about “Le Tour” and how it can help you improve your riding.

The Tour kicks off with three flatter stages that will suit the sprinters in the peloton. Sprinters are the most powerful riders in the bunch, able to push out well over 1,500 watts.

How can I improve my power?

Interval training is the best way to improve your power output over a short distance, like in a sprint. Whether it's beating your friend to the coffee shop or winning a race, everyone can benefit. Try this workout:
- Warm-up: 20 minutes
- 6 x 40/20s (40 seconds sprints with 20 seconds rest between): these are flat out
- If you manage the first set, increase to two or three sets with a 15-minute easy rest between.
- Cooldown – 20 mins

When the pack hits a sprint finish, it can often stamp out speeds of over 60kph.

Remember to measure your progress and only do interval sets maximum 2-3 times a week. When you ride easy, you recover. Without recovery you cannot build power.

The green jersey is won by the sprinter who accumulates the most points over the race. Not only are points up for grabs at the finish lines, there are also intermediate sprints (the race within the race) in various stages at various points. Points are awarded to the first three riders across the line.

Be the strongest you

Now is the best time to be inspired and strengthen your riding. With structured training that includes strength work and the right bike setup, you’ll be the strongest, most powerful cyclist you’ve ever been.
