Beat the heat
Make the most of summer

The summer months bring more daylight and more riding hours, but the heat has its challenges. Are you prepared for riding in the heat?

When you exercise in the heat, your blood flow increases to your skin. This creates sweat so that your body can cool itself. But what happens in the process, is that you lose important vitamins and minerals like sodium and zinc. You need to make sure you’re replacing these with special supplements to avoid fatigue and cramping. You’ll also need to ensure you’re taking in enough food to keep your sugar and glycogen levels up.

If you know you have a big ride planned and its likely to get hot, pre-freeze your bottles or add ice so that your drink stays cool. Also pack easy to eat snacks and nothing that can melt in the heat.
