Sitting on your indoor trainer with no plan and/or goal is not only boring, it also won’t help you gain strength or power. You need to make sure you have a clear plan and goal.
With the incredible technology available, it isn’t difficult to plan and structure your training to reach your goals. The different programmes allow you to do climbing, ladder, low-torque and speed intervals – all designed to build your strength and fitness. What the smart trainers do is allow you to closely monitor your power output and heart rate so it’s impossible to cheat and easy to monitor.
• Keep it interesting
• Build your explosive power
• Measure your progress
It’s easy to overdo it and break down muscle rather than build it, especially on the indoor trainer. Limit your indoor sessions to only 3 a week, particularly if you’re doing interval type training. Try get in one ride outside a week (if you can) and keep your heart rate in zone 2 (easy conversational pace) so that you can build your endurance and allow your muscles to recover.
Make sure you’re ready and prepared for every workout with the right training tools for you. We’re here to help guide you along the way.
