Power up
Power up your ride

Power-to-weight ratio (PWR) is a measuring tool to determine how strong you are. PWR is the amount of power your body can produce in relation to your body weight. It’s expressed in watts per kilogram (w/kg). The higher your PWR, the stronger you are.

The most obvious way to improve your PWR, is to lose weight. However, there’s a fine line. When you lose too much weight, you can hinder your power output, and not increase it. A great way to increase your power while keeping your weight constant is by eating a healthy, balanced diet while doing structured training.

Try these PWR specific intervals

To increase your power, try 5 x (1 minute on (125% of FTP), 2 minutes off (80% of FTP)). FTP (functional threshold power – this is the highest number of watts you can sustain for an hour). If you don’t know what your FTP is and you don’t have a power meter, do these as low-torque intervals (very heavy gear that you can just turn over without standing).

Be your strongest you

With the right training plan and qualified coach, you’ll be able to increase your PWR, while achieving your optimal body weight. What are you waiting for? Sign up below.
