The hard work is done, the kms have been banked, and you’re ready to race. What cyclists often struggle with, however, is to taper and rest. Are you guilty of last-minute training, or overdoing it leading up to a race?
It’s time to put up your feet and rest. Rest and tapering can be more important than training. However, don’t do nothing. Light stretching and easy rides (no longer than 2 hours) the week before the Cape Cycle Tour are crucial. Limit yourself to one small interval session the day before to sharpen the legs and get ready to race.
30 minutes warm-up
30-second hard with 3-minute rest (repeat 3 – 5 times)
30 minutes cool down

Make sure you stay hydrated and eat healthy, balanced meals the week before the Cape Cycle Tour. Prioritise sleep, and early nights, and lay off on the treats and alcohol. This will help you stay focused and conditioned, leaving you ready to have your best race!
Tapering and resting the week before a race can be even more crucial than the training you’ve done leading up to this point. Rest and make sure you’ve got the best shot at riding your best race yet. Share your race goal below, and we’d love to help you achieve it.
