Under pressure

Don’t let you or your bike crack under the pressure of traveling. With the right skill set, bike protection, and essential spares you’ll get your bike to your travel destination undamaged and ready to ride.

Here are the steps and things to remember when building your bike:

- Remove your wheels and check your rotors aren’t bent

- Remove your stem cap and loosen stem bolts

- Attach handlebar and don’t overtighten bolts

- Remove brake spacers

- Fit your wheels and pump your tyres

- Attach your pedals

- Check your bolts are tight again

Rookie error

Don’t forget to pack the correct tools so that you can easily put your bike back together when you arrive at your destination. Here are some essential spares and tools:

- The correct multitool for your bike

- Spare hanger

- Hand pump and shock pump

Top tip

Remember to lock your bike bag and don’t forget any compartments. Some bags have bike wheel compartments or extra storage. Particularly if you’re flying, remember to lock or use cable ties on them all.
